Exodus Wallet Review – An Intuitive Wallet With A Refreshing Design

It is always beneficial to learn about each and every type of bitcoin wallet available in the market, and that is why the Exodus wallet is worth reviewing. This particular wallet has several distinguishing characteristics that may be of interest to bitcoin users, and those that use altcoins as well.

The Basics

Let’s start with the basics in our Exodus wallet review. Exodus is a multi-asset software wallet that is still relatively new, considering it launched in July 2016. Exodus appeals to a wide range of users as the wallet supports Bitcoin, Dogecoin, Golem, Dash, Augur, Litecoin, and Ethereum. While there are several wallets that support multiple currencies, Exodus prides itself on the following features:

User Interface

The wallet concept was built around making crypto beautiful, and founders JP Richardson and Daniel Castagnoli accomplished this goal. Everything from the icons to the sounds that the software makes have been planned with the overall user experience in mind. The simple UI creates a circle that is representative of a user’s holdings. Each part of the pie chart is color coded and includes the total asset value in the center of the display.

ShapeShift API

Users can also trade different cryptocurrencies from within Exodus. With ShapeShift, you can easily trade altcoins for bitcoin or bitcoin for altcoins. With the built-in integration, transactions are extremely fast and can be completed without having to undergo an extensive verification process. Exodus aims to focus solely on the exchange of cryptocurrencies, which is why you will not be able to make deposits or purchases using fiat currencies.

Local Storage

Exodus is a desktop wallet and the software stores your encrypted private keys on your personal computer. The software will only backup metadata that has been also been encrypted and the details of the transaction (including keys) are not stored on any servers. The wallet is compatible with Mac, Windows, and Linux operating systems. Rather than having to worry about the full Blockchain consuming your entire hard drive, Exodus is a litewallet that only downloads part of the chain.

Customer Support

Let me preface this by saying that I am not an investment expert, this is just an opinion. There, now you can’t be mad at me.

A big part of our Exodus wallet review involves customer service. Aside from the impeccable design, customer support seems to be the other aspect where Exodus excels. The founders even opened a messaging system via Slack where they could be reached publically. Exodus Public Slack is currently at capacity, but you can still join the waiting list or reach out to the support team.

All concerns and questions are resolved promptly with representatives seeming genuinely interested in improving the overall user experience. The site itself also features numerous tutorials, videos, and contact options for account resolutions.

Areas For Improvement

With so much to like about Exodus, there are still a few areas where we would like to see some more development. Currently, there is not two-factor authentication but it seems as if this feature is in the works.

The wallet is not iOS or Android-friendly, though this is something that the founders of the site have addressed. Though they do plan on expanding to other platforms in the future, they also point out that users handling large amounts of assets prefer the more secure desktop platform.

The transactions fees are also higher than some other trading platforms, however, they are not unreasonable. We can personally forgive the higher fees because of the fast speed in which all transactions are processed.

Overall Opinion of Exodus

Exodus is a wallet that has been well-revered by most users and after reviewing the software it is definitely legit. In their short time in the market, they have already developed a reputation for excellent support, reliability, and ease of use. We will close our Exodus wallet review with this:

It may still be early, but with the expansion into the mobile realm and more time on the books, ReviewBitcoin.com thinks there is no reason not to believe that Exodus will become one of the most highly-ranked wallet platforms.
